List of All important United Nation Agencies

The United Nations has several types of organizations that it works with, including related agencies and specialized agencies.

Related agencies:

They are independent international organizations that work in close cooperation with the United Nations. They are not formally part of the UN system but have a formal relationship with it. They are established by intergovernmental agreements and are usually based on a specific issue or area of activity.

Examples of related agencies include the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL), and the World Trade Organization (WTO).

Specialized agencies

They are on the other hand, are independent international organizations that have a formal relationship with the UN. They are established by separate international treaties and have a specific mandate that relates to the broader mission of the UN.

Examples of specialized agencies include the World Health Organization (WHO), the International Labor Organization (ILO), and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
